| Fitness and HealthYou don't need to be an athlete to participate in scuba diving and anyone who can swim and who has an average level of health and fitness can enjoy the activity. Some medical conditions, e.g. heart disease or active asthma, may prevent you from participating in scuba diving, subject to appropriate advice from a doctor. Before enrolling onto a PADI training course you would need to complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire and answer 'YES' or 'NO' to each question. If you answer 'YES' to any question you would need to visit your own GP or a doctor specializing in diving medicine to obtain medical clearance to dive. Medical examinations can be obtained quickly and cheaply in Kota Bharu and Jerteh, but it is strongly recommended that if you answer 'YES' to any question you should obtain a diving medical BEFORE arriving to the island. |
